Hi, I'm Sofia
Professional project manager. A parent. An expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created EchoSalineTidepool
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Covers (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel diary
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
